Abstract

Balanced nutrition is considered a fundamental factor in supporting cognitive abilities and academic achievement among schoolchildren. Many scientists and researchers have linked malnutrition to the emergence of learning difficulties, as the brain fails to receive adequate amounts of essential nutrients necessary for its growth and functioning—particularly during the early
developmental stages of the child. Nutrients such as proteins, omega-3 fatty acids, iron, zinc,
iodine, and vitamins (B6, B12, D, E) in addition to calcium, magnesium, complex carbohydrates,
and antioxidants, play an active role in building nerve cells, enhancing memory, and improving
concentration and attention.
The lack or deficiency of these nutrients leads to disruptions in cognitive, behavioral, and
social performance, resulting in lower academic achievement.
This study aims to examine the effect of the of the nutritional environment on learning
difficulties and academic performance among pupils, by reviewing the most significant studies that
addressed this topic, and by proposing nutritional intervention programs that may help reduce
these difficulties. The study concludes with practical recommendations derived from its findings
