The process of peacebuilding in the aftermath of a conflict is a solution for preventing the countries that had engaged in the conflict from retreating back to violence by addressing the root causes of the conflict . This involves employing a set of strategies undertaken by an outside party such as (international organizations, donor countries ..etc.) or internal actors such as civil society.
The idea of peacebuilding emerged in its current institutional framework during the post-Cold War period as a result of the widespread of conflicts between and withing states . The United Nations adopted this idea and set out to implement it as a strategy to help countries emerging from conflicts to achieve sustainable peace.
Theoretically , there have been a number of contributions by political scientists to provide several interpretations of the concept of peacebuilding starting with specific explanations aimed at providing a comprehensive and clearer understanding of this concept
