Clinical psychology has always taught us the extreme complexity of psychological functioning, and to attempt to account for this complexity by ignoring psychological tests is, in our opinion, to misunderstand it. Therefore, psychological tests are tools often used by the clinical psychologist in practice and research situations. In this theoretical-practical article, we would like to propose to the readers an overview of the current situation of the application of tests in Algeria in the light of socio-cultural factors. The aim is not to give an exhaustive descriptive portrait of the situation on the national level, but to provide some observations based on our experience as teacher-researchers and clinical psychologists. The examples given are from the application of the tests most used by Algerian psychologists. On the whole, the results of our study show that the tests designed abroad must be adapted, taking into account the specific characteristics of our country, especially those related to culture. They also argue for the need to look at what clinical psychologists in the field are doing with psychological testing.
