Abstract

French maintains itself very well. It is almost (it is a confession) omnipresent everywhere. It takes the lead and remains the preferred form of everything related to "modernity". French becomes the lingua franca of education and communication in a multilingual environment. Algerian Arabic today includes an extraordinary number of words belonging to others, notably French. It is a specificity of Algerian Arabic. It adopts and adapts the foreign word. Thus, neologism loses its xenity and ensures its sustainability, a guarantee of integration and adoption. The number of these various borrowings (morphological diversity), despite their opacity, circulate well and meet no resistance from Algerian speakers all confused and reflect a secure anchoring and a real predisposition not only to adapt to the grammar of the borrowing language but to give rise to a factual derivation and to semantic, neosemic extensions.
