Abstract

Huston's writing is an example of an unusual cross-cultural adventure that escapes categorization. Situated at the confluence of Anglo-Saxon cultures, because of its birth in Alberta in Canada, from the modern Latin world to rich linguistic and cultural determinations,   incarnates masterfully and, to the highest degree, what is called, today, a world literature. She tried to accomplish an epic crossing of signs, languages, continents and cultures in order to draw a utopia, a senseless dream and reach the most distant shores by producing a protean work of universal dimensions. It is from Paris, the cosmopolitan city, the world-city, that begins a great adventure of mind and intelligence for Nancy. An adventure that will transform her life and open up infinite and unlimited spaces to ask the big questions about acculturation, identity, exile, "northern", "southern", hybridity, feminist and globality.
