Abstract

This paper seeks to explore how the potential offered by information technology (computers) can be utilized to support children with special needs who are capable of learning in general, with a particular focus on those with mild intellectual disabilities. This will be done by presenting and discussing some of the technological innovations and software programs available through information technology that have proven effective, according to several studies and global experiments, in developing and improving the basic academic skills (oral language skills, reading, and writing) of individuals with intellectual disabilities, considering their cognitive, physical, and psychological abilities.
