The Fact of Arabic Language Learning in Middle Stage according to the Competency based approach -A Descriptive-critical Study

Abstract

The new curriculums based on the competency approach aim to make the Arabic language learning focus on communicating with the language and to let the learner practice it orally and in writing spontaneously in his life. This study seeks to know the fact of Arabic language learning in middle stage according to the competency-based approach in order to find out to what extent this approach is incorporated. It deals with two sides; Firstly, the theoretical one defines the competency-based approach and how the Arabic language can be taught according to it. Then, it highlights the general aims of Arabic language learning in middle education and the set activities in this stage. Secondly, a practical field study, which summarizes a group of observations, recorded while attending a number of sessions. This study shows different problems and gaps at several levels that may reduce the effectiveness of this approach.
