Abstract

The world was surprised recently by the emergence of the new Corona virus epidemic, as it witnessed an incursion in most countries of the world. However, the truth is that the issue of pandemics is not new, as the history of nations is full of epidemics and deadly diseases that wiped out many lives,. Hence, the epidemiological history of Algeria does not differ from the rest of the countries as it witnessed through its historical course a lot of Epidemics We will try, through our research paper, to trace the distant roots of these epidemics from the period (1518) which is related to the Ottoman presence in the region until the emergence of the Corona virus. Since the Ottoman era, Algeria witnessed a wave of health deterioration as a result of a series of diseases and epidemics that continued until the period of the nineteenth century . After the French colonialism many socio-economic transformations resulted from the occupation of the country, which were reflected in the health situation in Algerian society. This was Distinguished by the successive emergence of a group of diseases and epidemics, whose causes ranged between local factors or an external colonial import of the epidemic or disease mainly by sea. Basically, this period recorded a huge number of deaths, which resulted from the colonial policy that contributed to the outbreak of epidemics among the Algerian people, and even after independence, when Algeria witnessed other epidemics, the most severe one was Corona virus.
